My practice is focused on intersections of trash, mysticism, online culture, fandom, beauty and my experiences as an apartment and eviction cleaner.
I work primarily in the medium of digital collage; the collage process is an act of divination.
It is a silent brainstorming where the process becomes the work.
It's how I think through a problem and the final result is the end of the process. Collaging is like thinking--
At the center of these thoughts are questions about finding meaning in the culturally abject (i.e., garbage and fan culture).
I take inspiration and direction from the incidental nature of the trash compositions I collect.
Trash, refuse, clutter, filth, and the mark we leave behind as humans is what influences my work. Many of my collages include personal photography.
My goal is to create a space of reverence and adoration for those things which are commonly discarded;
And to interrogate images, to interrogate the viewer, and to represent beauty through a subversive lens.
Driving all this is a sense of genuine and pure love of the subject matter.
My practice is an exercise in authentic devotion to beauty--in all forms.
